Psalm 35: 9-10, 27-8, 22-23, 27-28

9 Then my soul will rejoice in the Lord and delight in his salvation.

10 My whole being will exclaim, “Who is like you, Lord? You rescue the poor from those too strong for them, the poor and needy from those who rob them.”

17 How long, Lord, will you look on? Rescue me from their ravages, my precious life from these lions.

18 I will give you thanks in the great assembly; among the throngs I will praise you.

22 Lord, you have seen this; do not be silent. Do not be far from me, Lord.

23 Awake, and rise to my defense! Contend for me, my God and Lord.

27 May those who delight in my vindication shout for joy and gladness; may they always say, “The Lord be exalted, who delights in the well-being of his servant.”

28 My tongue will proclaim your righteousness, your praises all day long.

Prayer

Our Heavenly Father, merciful and just Lord, Jehovah Rapha, the God who heals. Thank you for giving us life and breath this morning. Let us soar like an eagle in prayer, through the clouds and fly to the east. We saw the glimpse of life returning to the earth a moment earlier. We pray for the leaders of all countries, Lord, give them health, guard their hearts, grant them wisdom and caring leadership so that their people may live comfortably.

Lord Jesus, the Prince of Peace, the King who will come again. You are close to the lowly and helpless. May You come to vindicate the poor and oppressed, rescue the weak and needy, do justice by crushing the wicked oppressors, bind the lips that speak evil and lies, and calm disputes everywhere. May you take the pleads of believers around the world to our Father in Heaven and ask for His mercy to suppress the spread of the virus.

Holy Spirit, thank you for Your perseverance and for getting us through the global disasters for the past six months. Be with us so we will not fear the virus and our ominous circumstances like a roaring lion. Guard our hearts and strengthen our faith as the second wave of pandemic attack is heading our way. Let not our hope be diminished by doubts and complaints. Give us the power to fight the pandemic together, to be wise, to imitate Jesus in these difficult times, and to help those who are hurt in suffering.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
