Psalm 2: 1-6, 11-12

1  Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain?

2  The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the LORD and against his anointed, saying,

3  “Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles.”

4  The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.

5  He rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,

6  “I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.”

11  Serve the LORD with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling.

12  Kiss his son, or he will be angry and your way will lead to your destruction, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

Prayer

Lord, faithful heavenly Father,

From the rising of the sun to its setting, we kneel before you with reverence to receive your divine kiss. Forgive our ignorance and foolishness and pardon our rebellious sins. We think we are losing our freedom when we are under your protection, and we think we are bound under your leadership. You encourage us to be kind, gentle, and loving but we think it would be ineffective in influencing this generation. If God should mark iniquities, who can survive your terrible fury? You pour out your flaming anger; rocks crumble to dust before you.

Jesus Christ, Lord, we hang on to the tassel of your robe trusting you to guide our ways. You lead us to the path of grace, and guide leaders of our country to govern for the people. We wait patiently for you to help us get through this virus pandemic and deliver us from evil. Blessed are those who take refuge in You.

Holy Spirit, thank you for calling us to wake up and not to selfishly serve the flesh by doing what feels good. Indulge in the flesh will not inherit the kingdom of God and will make God angry. We would be like pottery colliding with an iron rod and ended up in self-destruction. Help us to immerse ourselves in the goodness of the Lord and live out a God-centered life. We are grateful for this splendor morning to begin our day of joy, grace and positiveness.

We pray in the holy name of Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
