Psalm 56:1, 8, 10-13

1  Be merciful to me, my God, for my enemies are in hot pursuit; all day long they press their attack.

8  Record my misery; list my tears on your scroll — are they not in your record?

10  In God, whose word I praise, in the LORD, whose word I praise—

11  in God I trust and am not afraid. What can man do to me?

12  I am under vows to you, my God; I will present my thank offerings to you.

13  For you have delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, full of mercy and kindness. We praise You and extol Your holy name. Our hairs, skins, and clothes are exposed to wildfire smoke and the morning fog while our minds are cluttered with crisis of the coronavirus outbreaks and the political instability but our spirits are at peace. Christ now gives us courage and confidence, so we can come to God by faith. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. We start our day without fret or worry as we trust You, our Lord to take care of us.

Lord Jesus, thank you for the reminder at this perilous juncture that we should not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather be afraid of God, who can destroy both body and soul in hell. Thank you for giving us hope of eternal life. We trust You with all our hearts and surrender our lives to You. We will always let You lead us, and You will clear the road for us to follow.

Holy Spirit, shine Your light brightly and let it illuminate our hearts and chase away fear that controls or limits our lives. Let Your light guides us in the right direction so we will not be lost. You know how troubled we are and You have stored our tears in your bottle and sent them to Heavenly Father. In His mercy, He will deliver our souls from death and keep our feet from falling, that we may walk before Him in the light of the living. May You bring an end to this pandemic so that we can return to the church to sing praises and to offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving to the Lord.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
