Psalm 74: 1-3, 10-12

1  O God, why have you rejected us forever? Why does your anger smolder against the sheep of your pasture?

2  Remember the nation you purchased long ago, the people of your inheritance, whom you redeemed— Mount Zion, where you dwelt.

3  Turn your steps toward these everlasting ruins, all this destruction the enemy has brought on the sanctuary.

10  How long will the enemy mock you, God? Will the foe revile your name forever?

11  Why do you hold back your hand, your right hand? Take it from the folds of your garment and destroy them!

12  But God is my King from long ago; he brings salvation on the earth.

Prayer

Almighty loving Lord, our Heavenly Father, You are the all-powerful, most high eternal god, Jehovah-Shalom, the God of Peace. Thank you that the plans You have for us are plans for our well-being, not for disaster, to give us a future and a hope. The COVID-19 pandemic spreads all over the world and it is not going away anytime soon. It looks as though it will stay with us forever. Lord, You promise that when we call on You, pray and seek You with all our hearts You will answer us. For only You can bless us with the peace which surpasses all understanding, Your peace will guard our hearts and minds as we live in Christ Jesus.

Jehovah-Rapha, the Lord that heals. You were pierced for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on You, and by Your wounds we are healed. Lord Jesus, forgive us, we strayed from Your ways like lost sheep. We each turn to our own ways and forsaking loyalty in order to achieve our goals. Our shield of faith is riddled with holes which cannot extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Lord, may You heal our souls; in our weaknesses, become our strength, carry us and bear our burdens.

Holy Spirit, the comforter, Jehovah-Nissi, our banner. The devastation from the coronavirus pandemic is not Your punishment of a certain country. If You were to chastise a certain group of people, You would not involve the innocents. If You kept a record of our sins, Your judgement would begin with God’s household. Holy Spirit, with the spiritual wind lead us to spiritual awakening within the church. Awaken the faith that has not been tainted by impurities so that we may share our testimonies as believers, and rebuilding the body of Christ with bricks of faith, hope and love. Let us bring to the community the testimony of faith by living as salt and light . Help us to overcome our own tendencies toward evil and allow only Jehovah-Shammah, the Lord is there in our hearts.

We pray in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
