Psalm 64: 1-2, 9-10

1  Hear me, my God, as I voice my complaint; protect my life from the threat of the enemy.

2  Hide me from the conspiracy of the wicked, from the plots of evildoers.

9  All people will fear; they will proclaim the works of God and ponder what he has done.

10  The righteous will rejoice in the LORD and take refuge in him; all the upright in heart will glory in him!

Prayer

Heavenly Farther, we give You thanks for Your protection. In quietness of the morning we kneel before You and seek You. The devastation from the continuing COVID pandemic along with many natural disasters feels like arrows shooting into our hearts. But no harm comes to us because You are our shield. When we are not prepared for catastrophe and it strikes unexpectedly, we are saved because You are our refuge When we become vulnerable and weak, the devil attacks us spiritually but we are not afraid because You are with us. Your shepherd's rod and staff protect us.

Precious Lord Jesus, It is so sweet to trust in You. We are so blessed that with a simple faith we can stand on Your promise. We trust Your word as it is a lamp to guide our feet and a light for our path. There is no greater joy than the joy of walking with You. Although we are still affected by fear and worry that surround us, we will not be shaken for You are our deliverer and our thoughtful and considerate friend.

Holy Spirit, touch our lips with burning coal so our sins will be forgiven and our iniquities will be taken away. Bridle our tongues. Among all the parts of the body, the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting the entire body. It can set the whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself. Cleanse our hearts so that we don’t become unteachable and stubborn, our ears are not dull of hearing, and our eyes are not shut. Help us to understand with our hearts that the pandemic will pass. In the meantime, wait for God’s healing with patience. The righteous will rejoice in the Lord and take refuge in Him.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
