Psalm 57: 1, 7-11

1  Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.

7  My heart, O God, is steadfast, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music.

8  Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.

9  I will praise you, Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples.

10  For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies.

11  Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.

Prayer

May you, my God, be honored above the heavens; may your glory be seen everywhere on earth. We rise before dawn to seek You and to pray that You send the light to shine brightly upon the earth. Let Your light pierce through the darkness and guide our way so that we will not stumble into a snare. You look down from the sanctuary on high and search our hearts and test our minds. You are able, through Your mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.

Loving and Faithful Lord Jesus, pull us out of the depression and oppression with Your mighty hand. The coronavirus pandemic is still raging and we feel as though we were lambs in the lion’s den with no way out. Furthermore, we see caregivers who are burnout from caring for family member who is chronically ill, or has a disabling condition. We are waiting for Your healing. With You by our sides, we feel strong and calm. Our hearts are steadfast and our fear dissipated knowing that You are in control and that the pandemic and hardship will pass. Nothing can snatch us from Your hands.

Holy Spirit, spread Your powerful wings so that under the shadows of which we may take refuge. We will not wait for the dawn awaken us. Strengthen our faith and increase our hope that we may awaken the dawn. Harp and lyre, awake so we can sing and make music. Let heaven and earth make a joyful noise unto the Lord, break forth into joyous songs and sing praises to His holy name!
