Psalm 9:1-4, 7-11

1  I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.

2  I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High.

3  My enemies turn back; they stumble and perish before you.

4  For you have upheld my right and my cause, sitting enthroned as the righteous judge.

7  The LORD reigns forever; he has established his throne for judgment.

8  He rules the world in righteousness and judges the peoples with equity.

9  The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.

10  Those who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.

11  Sing the praises of the LORD, enthroned in Zion; proclaim among the nations what he has done.

Prayer

Father God, we will give thanks to You with all our hearts. You look down from your holy place on high and see the whole human race. You will judge the world in righteousness; You will judge people fairly. You will set up protection for the oppressed and a way out for those who are wrongly persecuted, and those who are in need and in distress. We feel tired just thinking about the hardships and setbacks that we have to deal with. At night we may cry but we place our trust in you to overcome them, and joy arrives in the morning. We will proclaim to the nations that trials and tribulations are temporary even God’s anger lasts only a moment, but God’s favor, a lifetime.

Lord Jesus, Prince of Peace. Thank you for your promise that we can still rest assured even though all kinds of sufferings and calamity befall us because You have overcome the world. We pray that you would close doors that lead to agony, afflictions, sorrow and pandemic outbreak. Instead, open the gates of salvation, joy, light, and happiness. For God opens doors no one can shut and shuts doors no one can open.

O Holy Spirit, when we are faced with the fierce struggle between good and evil, our hearts are full of doubts and our confidence is shaken. Let the promises in the Bible permeate in our blood, banish negative energy, and overcome the virus of life. Restore the health of our bodies, minds, and spirits. With vitality we go tell people about God’s grace and spread the gospel to where most needed.

We pray in the holy name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
