Psalm 83: 1-3, 12-13, 18

1  O God, do not remain silent; do not turn a deaf ear, do not stand aloof, O God.

2  See how your enemies growl, how your foes rear their heads.

3  With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish.

12  who said, “Let us take possession of the pasturelands of God.”

13  Make them like tumbleweed, my God, like chaff before the wind.

18  Let them know that you, whose name is the LORD— that you alone are the Most High over all the earth.

Prayer

The Lord Most High, Our Heavenly Father, Abba, God. Where are You? We woke up to a dark and quiet morning and thought we were dreaming. Not a sound anywhere and it is pitch dark outside. We seem to be buried in a deep black hole, cannot see anything. Lord, where are You? Do not be quiet. We closed our eyes, knelt down humbly, and raised our feeble hands to pray to You. While You remain silent, we put our broken faith in Your hand. Lord, may You comfort and heal us. We belong to You. We are Your dwelling place, Your special possession, and Your beloved lamb.

Lord Jesus, the savior who calms the storm. We are facing a surge of coronavirus cases and so much stress from daily life. Fear and panic come over us as if we were chased by hurricane and torrential rain. Our lives are like a mountain fire triggered by sudden lightning strike, burning out of control and everything turned to ashes. We are like ashes and dust rolled up by whirlwind not knowing where we will fall. However, You have promised that all who labor and are heavy laden, come to You and You will give us rest. In Your arms we regain our strength which enable us to move on with our lives.

Holy Spirit, thank you for adding a layer of thick bark to our lives like redwood tress so that fire cannot burn through the heartwood. There is no trouble, suffering, or hardship that can separate us from the love of Christ. You will protect us. You will not prepare an alternate remedial plan (Plan B) for our lives, an inferior plan as second choice, nor will You give up the perfect plan intended for our lives (Plan A). Regardless how messed up or even broken we get You will turn cursing into blessing and heal our wounds. You let us be still and settled down in silence, and You guard our hearts and minds with Your peace. You help us to stand up again so we can proclaim that the peace of God is a peace which surpasses all understanding.

We keep on believing that God answers prayer in Jesus’ name. Amen.
