Psalm 5: 1-8, 11-12

1  Listen to my words, LORD, consider my lament.

2  Hear my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray.

3  In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.

4  For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness; with you, evil people are not welcome.

5  The arrogant cannot stand in your presence. You hate all who do wrong;

6      you destroy those who tell lies. The bloodthirsty and deceitful you, LORD, detest.

7  But I, by your great love, can come into your house; in reverence I bow down toward your holy temple.

8  Lead me, LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies— make your way straight before me.

11  But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.

12  Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, God, who search the minds and test the hearts of people. In the morning at sunrise; we kneel before you and focus on listening to You. We keep watch and pray that we will not fall into temptation. The pandemic is like an open mass grave ready to swallow up COVID 19 victims. This novel coronavirus has ravaged our country causing unprecedented damage and economic devastation and making city a desolation. There will likely be no quick post-COVID 19 economic recovery as the prospect looks like an endless desert at this time. However, what is more terrifying is the wrath of God. God is holy and righteous and will not tolerate godlessness, wickedness, stubbornness, unrepentant hearts, and rejecting Jesus as savior. After all, Christ will judge each of us for the good or the bad that we do while living in these bodies.

Lord Jesus, cleanse our contrite hearts by the power of your blood. Lead us in the way of wisdom and guide us not to deviate from the path of integrity. The attitude we should have is the one that Christ Jesus had Do not use harmful words, but only helpful words, the kind that build up and provide what is needed, so that what we say will do good to those who hear us. Let us walk in the light of God and live the life of a faithful and honest disciple of Christ.

Holy Spirit strengthen us and guard our hearts. Help us avoid evil and walk straight ahead. Don't go one step off the right way or to conform to the pattern of this world. Create a pure heart in us, and put a new and loyal spirit in us. With you walking beside us, we can climb and stand on high mountains and cross curved and winding roads ahead.

With thankful hearts we pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
