Psalm 39: 1-4, 7-9, 12-13

1 I said, “I will watch my ways and keep my tongue from sin; I will put a muzzle on my mouth while in the presence of the wicked.”

2 So I remained utterly silent, not even saying anything good. But my anguish increased;

3  my heart grew hot within me. While I meditated, the fire burned; then I spoke with my tongue:

4 “Show me, Lord, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is.

7 “But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you.

8 Save me from all my transgressions; do not make me the scorn of fools.

9 I was silent; I would not open my mouth, for you are the one who has done this.

12 “Hear my prayer, Lord, listen to my cry for help; do not be deaf to my weeping. I dwell with you as a foreigner, a stranger, as all my ancestors were.

13 Look away from me, that I may enjoy life again before I depart and am no more.”

Prayer

Faithful, loving Heavenly Father, Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. We are sojourners and pilgrims here on the earth only for a short while. Give us the understanding of the meaning of life. The value of our lives and the number of years we received are in Your hands. We must cherish every relationship and embrace our family with unconditional love.

Lord Jesus, the redeemer. Thank you for the gift of another new day. You open the heaven’s gate that through our faith in You we are saved and may enter and that everyone who believes in You may have eternal life. This morning we pray for those who are sick and bedridden. Joined with their family and friends we lift up our hands and pray for your healing and restoration of health. May You pour out Your overflowing abundant goodness upon them and add more years to their lives, let them regain the joy and peace of the past.

Holy Spirit, who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit. The COVID-19 has changed lives around the world. For several months, we have been restricting our daily movements with stay at home order and nationwide lockdown. The pandemic created global public health and economic crisis. The uncertainty surrounding the pandemic and the anxiety it causes are taking an emotional toll on us. Lord, help us to turn our anguish into ardent prayer, give us faith to seek you in times of trouble. Let us focus on what is important, fix our sights on what is ahead, and run straight to the goal.

We pray this earnest prayer in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
