Psalm 33: 1-3, 8-9, 11, 18-19, 22

1  Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him.

2  Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre.

3  Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy.

8  Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the people of the world revere him.

9  For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.

11  But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.

18  But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,

19  to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.

22  May your unfailing love be with us, LORD, even as we put our hope in you.

Prayer

Unchanging and Faithful Heavenly Father. For You spoke and came to be; You commanded and it stood firm. The heavens declare the glory of God, and the expanse proclaims the work of his hands. This is all irrefutable. The purpose of Your plan is full of wisdom. Who can know Your thoughts? Why is it hard to find God sometime? Your wisdom is so beyond our ability to understand. Although the coronavirus seems to be a multitude of army and the world seems to be weighed down by the pandemic, Your eyes are on those who fear you, on those whose hope is in You. We give thanks for the people who are on the road to recovery from COVID 19 and for those who are still sick. May You deliver them from evil.

Lord Jesus, Your loving kindness is everlasting. You emptied Yourself by assuming the form of a servant, taking on the likeness of humanity. You care for the impoverished, concern for the poor beyond their physical needs, help the despised community, heal the injured in body, mind, and spirit. We pray for protection, strength, wisdom, and mercy for medical professionals, caregivers, researchers, essential workers, business owners and families facing financial stress. You promised that all those who are weary and burdened can come to You, and You will give them rest. May all those who have been favored rise up and sing new songs of thanksgiving to You and give testimony of God’s grace, love, and mercy.

Holy Spirit who dwell in our hearts, may the anointing we received from God and His word strengthen our crushed faith and give encouragement to lost hope. Help us to wait patiently for the COVID 19 pandemic to pass. Fill our lampstand with oil of joy to keep the fire going and not being blown out by the wind of the world. We know God’s love for us is undiminished and He gives grace generously.

With truthful hearts we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
