Psalm 32: 1-11

1  Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.

2  Blessed is the one whose sin the LORD does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit.

3  When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.

4  For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer.

5  Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin.

6  Therefore let all the faithful pray to you while you may be found; surely the rising of the mighty waters will not reach them.

7  You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.

8  I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.

9  Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you.

10  Many are the woes of the wicked, but the LORD’s unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in him.

11  Rejoice in the LORD and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart!

Prayer

Heavenly Father who gives people wisdom and shrewdness. We seek Your word at dawn each morning to start a new day. We look in our hearts and see the ongoing pandemic of COVID 19, the catastrophic natural disasters, political turmoil, and that is just the tip of the iceberg. What is hidden beneath the surface are layers of our transgressions, sins, evil deeds, failure, and arrogance. With contrite hearts we confess our iniquities and determine to abide by Your laws and live a godly life.

Lord Jesus, You came into the world to save us and to show that God is merciful and He will forgive sinners. You declare that the kingdom of heaven is near and we should all repent. We comply with your declaration and acknowledge our mistakes. We crossed the boundary that God set for us. We missed the mark for we don’t do the good we want to do, but instead do the evil that we don't want to do. We hypocritically distort the truth and do not practice justice and uprightness. However, with Your blood You cleanse us from all sins and You take away our offenses. You paid it all with Your life. We stand in silent awe of Your great love. If we don’t truly follow you and banish the very thought of doing wrong, the Lord will bring judgement upon us.

Holy Spirit, Your discipline is light than our sin. Help us not to fool ourselves thinking that we are wise in the things of this world but instruct and teach us in the way we should go. Remove the hidden things of dishonesty in our lives for unconfessed sin is blocking us from God. We have no peace in our hearts and our lives are trashed and our unique honorable sonship is lost. May You take us back and restore to us the joy of Your salvation. Let us rejoice in the Lord and take refuge in Him when the coronavirus pandemic is flooding around us.
