Psalm 30: 1-6, 10-12

1  I will exalt you, LORD, for you lifted me out of the depths and did not let my enemies gloat over me.

2  LORD my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me.

3  You, LORD, brought me up from the realm of the dead; you spared me from going down to the pit.

4  Sing the praises of the LORD, you his faithful people; praise his holy name.

5  For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.

6  When I felt secure, I said, “I will never be shaken.”

10  Hear, LORD, and be merciful to me; LORD, be my help.”

11  You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,

12  that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. LORD my God, I will praise you forever.

Prayer

Merciful Heavenly Father, this morning the fog was so thick we cannot see anything outside, and we felt somewhat disoriented. For many months, we have suffered from the stress of the COVID 19 pandemic. We are worn out with grief; every night our beds are damp from weeping; our pillows are soaked with tears. We feel trapped, bored, and irritable as the pandemic continues with no end in sight. We have this sinking feeling and our weak bodies are exhausted and can only rely on the lifebuoy of Your holy words to keep afloat. Lord, deliver us, bring us up from the realm of the dead and spare us from going down to the pit.

Lord Jesus, thank you for humbling yourself and came into the world to bear witness to the truth. The Father’s wrath is only momentary; yet His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may lodge for the night, but shouts of joy will come in the morning. Heal the pain of our souls that we may regain peace and stability. Heal those who are sick that they may restore their strength and spirit.

Guide us out of the sinful ways of the world and take us to the road that lead to eternal life Holy Spirit, thank you for counseling us not to exhibit emotional outburst but we were spoiled with Your love and did not heed your advice. We allow the weeds of bitterness and resentment grow in our hearts, so we lose our joy, spirit in prayers, godliness, and sincerity. We follow our own plans and not His, get caught in the snare of sin and fall into the pit of failure. Have mercy on us. Help us take off the sackcloth of weeping and put on the robe of joy. Play for us the prelude of grace and lead us to sing hymns of praise. Dispel the darkness of our hearts and renew our minds and spirits so we can live a life of thanksgiving, and offering You praise and gratitude each day until Christ returns.
