Psalm 3: 1-8

1  LORD, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me!

2  Many are saying of me, “God will not deliver him.” 

3  But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.

4  I call out to the LORD, and he answers me from his holy mountain.

5  I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the LORD sustains me.

6  I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side.

7  Arise, LORD! Deliver me, my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked.

8  From the LORD comes deliverance. May your blessing be on your people.

Prayer

Father in Heaven, God,

Thank you for holding our hands and walked through this dark night. The number of people infected with the coronavirus is increasing at an alarming rate. The adversities we have to face are overwhelming as they are like mushrooms on the lawn growing and multiplying overnight. But we are certain that You will lead us out of the valley of trial and take us to Your holy mountain where we can sing songs of morning victories accompanied by different musical instruments.

Thank you, Lord Jesus Christ who has conquered death. With You as our vanguard leading the way, we are confident victory is at hand. So, let’s lift up our heads to confront the difficulties and battles before us. We are not afraid of the constant lies and intimidation surrounding us. With faith as our shield we can fight off attacks from all directions. Besides, You will protect us by putting up fortress on every side. We have Jesus to depend on to win the battle.

Holy Spirit, giver of spiritual wisdom, help us maintain clean conscience and wait patiently on the Lord. Grant us peace of mind and calm our troubled hearts so that we will not be afraid of life’s uncertainty. Thank you that we don’t have to experience the betrayal and estrangement that King David had gone through. Let us stand firm in our faith and accomplish things not by our power or talent but relying on the spirit of the Lord who destroys forces of evil by crushing the jaw and breaking the teeth of the wicked. Let us be strong in the Lord and in His might power.

We pray in the holy name of Jesus. Amen.
