Psalm 17: 1-8, 15

1  Hear me, LORD, my plea is just; listen to my cry. Hear my prayer— it does not rise from deceitful lips.

2  Let my vindication come from you; may your eyes see what is right.

3  Though you probe my heart, though you examine me at night and test me, you will find that I have planned no evil; my mouth has not transgressed.

4  Though people tried to bribe me, I have kept myself from the ways of the violent through what your lips have commanded.

5  My steps have held to your paths; my feet have not stumbled.

6  I call on you, my God, for you will answer me; turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.

7  Show me the wonders of your great love, you who save by your right hand those who take refuge in you from their foes.

8  Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings

15  As for me, I will be vindicated and will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, You uphold justice and righteousness. We want to tell you first thing in the morning how eager we are to seek you. May we start this new day with your guidance and direction. Our hearts belong to You. We praise You for Your great faithfulness.

Lord Jesus, we are all sinners but You have washed away the dirt deposited in our hearts with Your precious blood and put on us a white robe of righteousness. You uphold our steps in Your paths. Facing the severe challenge from COVID 19 we cry out to You for help. We know that worries and complaints cannot solve problems, so we concentrate on seeking Your salvation. Don’t clothe us with darkness and cover us with sackcloth but keep us as the apple of Your eye and hide us in the shadow of Your wings.

Holy Spirit, our helper, hear our prayers every morning. You are our only hope for the future and ever-present support in our walk so that we will not stumble and fall. O Spirit, keep us on guard in the morning, open our ears and restraint our tongues. Let no unwholesome word proceed from our mouths, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment. In righteousness we will see Your face and our hearts will be filled with joy.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
