Psalm 115: 1-8
1 Not to us, LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.
2 Why do the nations say,“Where is their God?”
3 Our God is in heaven; he does whatever pleases him.
4 But their idols are silver and gold, made by human hands.
5 They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but cannot see.
6 They have ears, but cannot hear, noses, but cannot smell.
7 They have hands, but cannot feel, feet, but cannot walk, nor can they utter a sound with their throats.
8 Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.
Prayer
Most High God, faithful and loving. We praise your Holy Name; to God be
the Glory. The morning hour before dawn is so quiet but we are not at peace under the conditions of pandemic threat, social unrest, and the economic recession; all of these cause us anxiety and render us powerless. Lord, may you think about us so that we know whatever befalls us, big or small, we can rely on you to deliver us.
Lord Jesus, You are our ever present help and our shield. In days of sorrow, we hold on to your promise to stay on course and not be distracted by fatigue or negative emotions. When life throws us punches, we remain faithful and adhere to responsibilities and missions that God has placed upon us Christians to diligently lead people to salvation.
Holy Spirit, strengthen us, give us the wisdom to focus on heavenly things and not on things that we can see, smell or touch. Grant us hearts to care for people in need, to cherish time we spend with family, to comfort the sad, to encourage those who are despondent and to support the weak.
We pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
