Psalm 112: 1, 4-9

1  Praise the LORD. Blessed are those who fear the LORD,     who find great delight in his commands.

4  Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous.

5  Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with justice.

6  Surely the righteous will never be shaken; they will be remembered forever.

7  They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the LORD.

8  Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear; in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.

9  They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor, their righteousness endures forever; their horn will be lifted high in honor.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, worthy of our praise. We long for Your words and Your food is our daily power breakfast. Your grace, mercy and righteousness draw us from darkness to light. We are light in the Lord and shall live like people who belong to the light. Let our lives bear witness to Your grace, compassion and righteousness.

Jesus our Lord, you understand the difficulties and challenges we face. Strengthen our faith to rely on You solely to live through our lives and in all our ways acknowledge God. Regardless of what dangerous road we have to tread or to live in a world that is covered with darkness, our hearts remain steadfast trusting in the Lord and will have no fear.

Holy Spirit, help us to take notice of the desolate, miserable, and rugged roads out there, those who are lonely and helpless, those who are socially disadvantaged, and those who are lost. Touch us to extend a helping hand in His name, to share freely and give generously to those in need, and comfort those who are in despair. Proclaim to them that the Lord is a prayer-hearing God. Believe firmly in the Lord, don’t be disappointed though the burden of life is extremely heavy and heart is troubled. The Lord still cares and He listens to prayers.
