香港兔唇與裂顎綜合醫療中心

前言

在香港，每800至1000位嬰兒之中，平均有一位罹患兔唇或裂顎，甚至同時活在兩者的痛苦之中。這些嬰兒除了要在幼兒期動手術修復嘴唇（通常於三個月大時）和修復顎骨（通常於九個月大時）外，也要動手術處理一些影響深遠的問題，如言語和聽力（咽鼓管堵塞），又或因畸型的鼻形所引致的鼻塞、面部與牙床的骨骼的正常成長等等，術後的小孩方可以恢復正常的外觀和重拾自信。

香港兔唇與裂顎綜合醫療中心(HKMHCCLP)成立的目的是為了幫助並處理這些患者的需要，直到他們走出兔唇裂顎的陰霾。

HK Multidisciplinary & Holistic Centre for Cleft Lip and Palate

Introduction

One baby in 800 to 1000 live births in Hong Kong suffers from cleft lip or palate or a combination. Apart from repair of lip (usually at 3 months of age) and palate (usually at 9 months of age), long term problems such as speech, hearing (from glue ear), nasal congestion (from deformed nose), dental and facial bone development require treatment in order to restore normal appearance and regain confidence.

The aim of setting up a “Hong Kong Multidisciplinary &

Holistic Centre for Cleft Lip and Palate (HKMHCCLP)” is to address the need of these patients until they have restored all functions from the cleft lip and palate defects.
