The sheep’s path is directed by the shepherd’s voice. Amidst the many voices around it, the sheep can only recognize one voice. Dumb as it is, the sheep recognizes the shepherd’s voice. When I hear the Lord’s voice, my path is filled with peace and joy. How terrible it would be if you could not hear the shepherd’s voice, lest you might tread on a dangerous path. Brothers and sisters, have you learnt to listen to the Lord’s voice on your path?
Streams in the Desert Dec 5 Set Apart Lord, I know that people’s lives are not their own; it is not for them to direct their steps.
- Jeremiah 10:23
Today's Scripture & Insight: Psalm 23 A psalm of David. 1 The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
“… lead me in a straight path…” (Psalm 27:11) Many people want to direct God, instead of resigning themselves to be directed by Him; to show Him a way, instead of passively following where He leads. - Madame Guyon The sheep’s path is directed by the shepherd’s voice. Amidst the many voices around it, the sheep can only recognize one voice. Dumb as it is, the sheep recognizes the shepherd’s voice. “… he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.” (John 10:4). The same applies to the relationship between the saints and the Lord. The Lord said He is the good shepherd and the saints are His sheep. When I hear the Lord’s voice, my path is filled with peace and joy. How terrible it would be if you could not hear the shepherd’s voice, lest you might tread on a dangerous path.
