Psalm 134: 1-3
1 Praise the LORD, all you servants of the LORD who minister by night in the house of the LORD.
2 Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the LORD.
3 May the LORD bless you from Zion, he who is the Maker of heaven and earth.
Prayer
Compassionate, loving and faithful Heavenly Father, God
We kneel before you and offer our praise. Under the gloomy clouds only the shadow of the crescent moon is visible and that sets the mood as if we were returning from our journey of pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Looking back on our lives, we have journeyed though high mountains, deep valleys, broad roads, and paths strewed with thorns. Wherever we might be, you said “My grace is sufficient for you”. Thank you, Lord for giving us our daily bread. If we have more, we might say that we do not need you. But if we are poor, we might steal and bring disgrace on our God.
Lord Jesus, when You were on earth You had nowhere to lay Your head. Yet, You live to make continued intercession for those who draw near to God through You. May You keep watch on people who work the night shift, especially frontline and essential workers who must work onsite during the pandemic and social unrest. May Your blessing be on family caretakers and Christians committed to pray constantly for the church.
Spirit of Peace, thank you that you would comfort meek and lowly people like us. You humbly dwell in our dilapidated tent of life, tender as a Father kneeling before his child to make eye contact with us more easily. Hold us up when we feel faint in our spiritual walk. A bruised reed You will not break, and a smoldering wick You will not extinguish because we know You will raise us up when we stumble and fall.
We pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
